Anime Fandom: Yuri!!! On Ice Jigsaw Puzzle Unboxing

I like practical anime merchandise, so when I heard Yuri!!! on Ice was coming out with two jigsaw puzzles I preordered them as soon as possible! It was worth it!

As usual, CD Japan is great at packing their products to ensure they make it to you in one piece.

The box was filled with the air pockets, and the puzzles were wrapped in bubble wrap.

There are two versions. The smaller 300 puzzle piece one showing Viktor, Yuri, and Yurio together in their signature ice skating costumes. It’s also very cute the way Viktor is holding Yuri’s hand. And of course, Yurio has a distant and arrogant look on his face.

If you aren’t used to doing puzzles (like me!) even 300 can be overwhelming, but the different colors between the three characters (Yurio is silver/blue, Yuri is black/yellow, and Victor is mostly red/burgundy) makes it a little easier to distinguish which pieces go where. Like seriously, all the blue pieces go on the left.

I spent the weekend separating the pieces into color-coded piles. So that will be helpful for beginners.

Not the color-coded pile.

The 1000 piece version is going to be tough because there is so much going on in the picture. The box shows different scene stills from the anime. I could definitely use some help from puzzle genius, Laura; unfortunately, we live in different states!

So I’ll be tackling this one myself. Wish me luck.

There is another jigsaw puzzle (pictured together), but I didn’t get it. It was my least favorite of the three.

The third puzzle released for the anime franchise.

The products are good quality. I’ve had puzzle boxes that looked weak and started to come apart, but these boxes are almost as good as the ones Apple uses for their products — sturdy and high quality. The pieces themselves are also well-built, and each box came with a little spatula and glue so that once you finished you can glue that back to keep the pieces together and then frame it. Knowing me, I’d probably just break it all apart just to put it back together again.

If you are a puzzle lover or are looking for a new hobby, and you love YOI, this is a good product. The puzzles, even with shipping, weren’t too expensive. They are sold out on CDJapan, but you could use their proxy shopping service to see if they can get their hands on them. Otherwise, look on Amazon Japan as they have some in stock and you can buy them used (but hurry as anime products sell out quickly!).

I’ll be posting a pic of what the puzzle looks like once I finish one.  Hopefully that won’t be too long from now – haha!
