Honest, intelligent news and reviews for manga romantics
Ciao is a shoujo manga magazine published by Shogakukan on a monthly basis that is aimed at the youngest female audience, ages 9-15. We’ve gotten series in North America from Viz media.
So which series have we seen in North America? There were earlier series from Viz that got published, but we haven’t gotten anything recent from Ciao in a long time. I think because of the demographic. The most well known series we got was Beauty Pop by Kyoko Arai. There was also Wedding Peach and Happy Happy Clover. Well, what can we beg publishers for? Here’s what’s currently running in Ciao:
Fin! Those are all the series currently running in Ciao. There are always short stories and one shots of course. These are the main series you will see that are ongoing.
So which of these series that’s non-licensed would I like to see?
How about you? What title would you buy if it was on the shelf?
I know this is an old post, but I have loved what I have read of Beauty Pop. I wish Shojo Beat would have more series like that. I want manga that is cleaner, and for what I remember Beauty Pop was definitely that. Now, I don’t know anything about these, so if any that I mention has bad things in it, I would not want it brought over. I’d pick Hanayome to Ijiwaru Darling, Dolly Kanon, Koisuru ♥︎ Pensaki, Puri Para and Koi Shite! Luna KISS.
Out of the ones you’ve picked, I like the looks/sounds of Colors!, Youkai Watch – Wakuwaku Nyanderful Days, and Elite Jack.
Shojo Beat has announced The Water God’s Bride by Rei Toma for April 2017
