Honest, intelligent news and reviews for manga romantics
So, I know it seems like I fell off the face of the world, or at least out of the blogosphere for a while. The truth is I kind of almost died…twice.
Yeah, that’s a little dramatic. But what I didn’t mention in my last post was that the week we were moving I was 8 months pregnant. The week after we moved, I actually had a heart attack, while pregnant. Stumped all the doctors at the hospital because it’s so rare. I just happen to have the worst genetics. Soooo I had to recover from that and then in September gave birth to our daughter. You can imagine that was complicated as hell. Things were getting better, I was getting sleep at night, and then in January – another acute heart episode. The treatment from July failed and I had to have it redone.
Now it’s April and I’ve finally made a recovery. I’ve had a drastic lifestyle change, but hey – at least I’m alive and able to love on my kids! The baby came through the delivery fabulously and without any deficits. That in itself is miraculous.
So, the mystery behind my disappearance is finally revealed! It’s not as mushy as a shoujo manga, but it’s almost as dramatic. 😉
I don’t know how often I’ll get away to write posts at this point. I’m not even sure if my blog is relevant anymore. There’s only a small fraction of shoujo manga available today as there was when I first started it five years ago. As of now, I don’t care if it’s good or bad – buy everything!!! -so that we can continue to get more.
I’d like to continue with the monthly releases, as I find it helpful. As well as keeping up with what’s being licensed, and any license requests, as there are some good series out there that we haven’t gotten in North America yet. The rest of it is eye candy – wallpapers and my humble opinions on series.
For now, I’ll have to play things by ear and see how it goes. Hope everyone else has been doing well!
Welcome back. What an ordeal for you and your family. Congrats on your daughter. You’ve been missed.
It’s awful that you’ve been through so much difficulty, but I’m glad to hear you’ve overcome it. Congratulations on the ultimately successful addition to your family! Here’s hoping you get more shoujo manga to cover.
You’re right, that is quite the dramatic tale! Welcome back and here’s to some extended good health vibes for the foreseeable future!
As far as relevance, I hope you keep the site going. As you mentioned, there is less shojo coming out in English so I’d say it needs its champions more than ever. If you’re interested in adding anything to make the site more current, you could tackle the shojo titles being released digitally only like on Crunchyroll Manga or MangaBox.

Holy crap. Welcome back Laura, I definitely missed ya, and I know others have as well. Glad you’re back, and here’s to good health for the foreseeable future!
Hmm, yeah the shoujo market seems to be kind of on the decline eh? But there’s still a few upcoming I think. I know Viz has a couple of stuff. We have a few manga sites (MangaReborn, Comic Walker, Crunchyroll, MangaBox, Amimaru) that’s around and has some manga. You might be able to find some shoujo in there. Now whether they’ll meet your standards…xD
