New Shoujo Manga Licenses – Otakon 2016

We had a couple new license announcements at Otakon this weekend. Hurray!

From Viz Media we will be getting the sequel to Kyousuke Motomi’s QQ Sweeper manga, Queen’s Quality. Queen’s Quality has been running in Betsucomi since July 2015 and is still ongoing. There are 2 published volumes in Japan.

The synopsis from Viz: When the secret of the girl who was sealed is unlocked, her monochrome daily life is transformed into a vivid one. Those two from QQ Sweeper will develop in a new battle, a new stage, and a new love!!

I’m soooo glad we’re getting this series, as it would have been highly disappointing to read QQ Sweeper and not get the rest of the story. We have no release date for the series, however, except that it will be in 2017.

Viz Media also announced the acquisition of yuri manga Aoi Hana by Takako Himura, translated to Sweet Blue Flowers. It will be released with brand new translations in 2-in-1 editions for a total of 4 volumes.

The synopsis from Viz: Fumi Manjoume, an introverted, bookish teenage girl, is beginning her first year of high school at Matsuoka Girls’ High School. She enters the school year with her heart broken by a previous relationship. At about the same time, she reconnects with her best friend from ten years ago, Akira Okudaira, who is now attending Fujigatani Girls’ Academy as a first-year high school student. As they reconnect, they both deal with their own respective romantic problems, and help each other get through them.

No release date for this series yet, either.

This isn’t from Otakon, but in case you missed it earlier last week, Seven Seas announced their acquisition of Atami Michinoku’s Fudanshi Koukou Seikatsu 4-koma manga, translated to The High School Life of a Fudanshi.

The synopsis from Seven Seas: Ryo Sakaguchi has a deep, dark secret: he’s a fudanshi—a boy obsessed with BL. While he has trouble understanding how others don’t find the same bliss he does from his unusual hobbies, that doesn’t make it any easier for Ryo to buy his precious manga from the “girls” section of the store, or any simpler explaining the world of boys’ love, shipping wars, and doujinshi circles to his best friend Nakamura. Will Ryo find other fanboys to share his hobby with, or is he doomed to sit alone on his throne of BL romance?

The series will debut in North America in May 2017. The story is currently ongoing online and has two published volumes in Japan.

Finally after this weekend, I can actually cross a series off of my wishlist!!! What do you think of the new announcements?
