So here are the obvious things:

  • Yeah, my blog is girly – that’s because most of what I review are for a female audience.
  • It’s not an anime blog. It’s a manga blog.  (Although I do promote anime when I review series and have on occasion reviewed an anime when I just couldn’t help myself.)

Here are some things you might be interested to know:

I knew nothing about this tournament, until I got contacted and my blog was volunteered to be admitted into the tourney. Whatever the outcome, I’m just excited about the exposure. I hope that there will be some readers out there that find my posts helpful or thoughtful, and come back or share with their friends. If you are a regular reader, you’ll find the Aniblog Tourney polls linked, so go vote!

I’m an image junky, so there are tons of pics and wallpapers on my site. That’s not all this site is about, though. In fact, the wallpapers are a recent addition this year, because I’ve found it drives more traffic this direction. Please take time to use the navigation bar and find a post you might be interested in. The most popular posts are in the side bar, but if you want some of the more comment driven ones here is a short list:

And Finally…Thanks for Even Clicking!

If you just came to look, thanks for taking the time!

  • Hey, you’re currently reading I Am Here. I love that little series. And a review for Natsume’s Book of Friends coming up? Wonderful. I’ll have to look around your blog–it seems we might share similar tastes!

  • Hello! I’m a first time visitor to your site (I was one of those directed here from the tournament)and I just needed to drop a comment to say I am loving your blog!

Despite being more of an “anime girl” myself, manga is something I still invest a lot of time and money in. I’m a shoujo manga fan who is always looking for new titles to read, and looking through your site has already given me so many ideas on what to buy next!

Even taking a look at your upcoming reviews and what you’re currently reading, I’m definitely excited to see some more of your posts soon. Thank you for this blog!

PS: I have added you to my blogroll. You can definitely count me in as a new regular reader!

    • Yay! Welcome! I’m glad you commented, and I’ll be sure to give your site a visit as well. I look forward to future discussions as it looks like we have similar interests. 🙂

  • I must comment because Kare Kano got you into manga. NAKAMAAAA! Ok, that was so weaboo. Anyway tbh, I’m not a manga person at all since I find it hard to stomach the long wait before a scanlation is released, especially if the manga isn’t that popular. Hopefully I’ll find time in the near future to pick up some more titles.

    Good luck on the tourney!

  • I’m quite happy to discover your blog. Since my own site is entirely focused on shonen, I rarely get the chance to read shoujo, but through past involvement in conventions, I’ve found myself lamenting the lack of proper shoujo coverage. Shoujo clearly has a huge fan base, but I’ve found it to be under-represented in terms of dedicated analysis when compared to other demographics.

It’s also always nice to find another site focused on manga, so I’m voting for you, and I’m glad to know I can point people here when they’re looking for shoujo discussion. Good luck in the tournament!

  • Thanks for this brief intro! I found out about your blog from the tourney. I’m mostly a manga fan myself.

I also got contacted by Aniblog, but I don’t think they ever put my blog up on their tourney. Ah well, there’s always another opportunity.

  • I’m a huge fan of your site, so I hope you’ll do well and find some more readers who otherwise didn’t know of it. Good luck!

    • Thank you! I voted for Beneath the Tangles as well, and I’m sure you’ll do awesome.

  • Oooh, Kare Kano got you into manga huh, it’s my favorite of all time yeah despite that ah … ending .. Gainax should be rolling in $$$ Evangelion movie profits by now to fix it … hopefully someday.

I tried to continue with the manga, but I don’t think I was too savvy back in the day to know where to get it and when I did find it later on I was horribly lost, I felt I had to restart from the first volume to get it all going again, just didn’t have the time.

Anyways, good luck on the tourney, if anything should be a decent exposure, i got here didn’t i? being only like the 1 out 2 manga blogs in the tourny should get you a leg up.

    • Seriously, I doubt Kare Kano will ever get a remake. If you read the manga, it’s not a very fluid story and would be difficult to episode after where the anime left off. It also gets rather dark. I’m not really that hopeful.

Besides that, there are quite a few manga blogs in the tourney. Manga Report, Manga Critic, All About Manga, Slightly Biased Manga, Okazu, Yuri no Boke, and Kuriousity all being sites I’m fond of or have commented on. So there’s actually quite a showing this year. And all the blogs are good writers, so it will be interesting to see how things play out.

Thanks for commenting Rednights, and I wish you well in the tourney as well!

      • Regarding Kare Kano, that won’t get a remake mainly because of the disagreement between Gainax and Tsuda-sensei over how the anime was done (which is why Ano left the series before it ended).

Regarding the manga, I read the whole thing, but Tsuda-sensei got lost in the backstory of her main character’s parents, which made the manga become tedious to me. Flashbacks are good, but when you take the flashback too far back and for too long, it isn’t a good thing and becomes some other manga than the one you started reading.

Anyway, good luck in the tourney. ^_^

        • Thanks for chiming in! Those two ideas are both mentioned in my review of the manga. I thought Tsuda-sensei spent too much time on side stories which also took face time away from the main characters. That whole arc with the school play was way off tangent.

    • Grats on your win, however tourney aside it looks like your website is woefully indexed by Google. Your homepage doesn’t even get shown if you do a “Heart of Manga” query. I suggest if you haven’t already to sign up for Google Webmaster Tools and submit a Sitemap file. “Google XML Sitemap” plugin for WordPress will make a sitemap.xml file for you. This will make sure Google indexes your posts.

      • Thanks for the advice. I’ve been trying to solve the homepage problem for awhile. The posts themselves get indexed well because I’ve used the All in One SEO plug in. However I haven’t been able to get the same results for the homepage. I’ll check into it. Thanks again!
