What I’m Watching: May 2016

I finished watching Marriage Contract. It’s a great drama and I highly, highly recommend it. Be warned, you will feel many emotions. I want something just the opposite now. I still have some shows to finish up, such as the Korean drama Vampire Detective. Other shows have gone on the backburner. Time is limited this month, although I did decide to watch every Tawainese drama in DramaFever and Viki’s catalog. Have you ever done something like that before? What’s your longest marathon?

Miss Rose

Miss Rose

Miss Rose (2012)
Summary: Luo Si Yi seeks out the obligatory services of Lily, a local fortune teller, but when she receives her fortune she’s unwilling to accept the mystical decree that she’s doomed to be a spinster for life. Si Yi wagers that she’ll get married within a year, and if she wins, Lily must pole dance at her wedding. But should Si Yi fail, she’ll truly make a fortune teller out of Lily: Si Yi will pay her one million dollars. Gussied up for the dating circuit, Si Yi soon finds she’s got a challenge in balancing romance with the demands of her boss Gao Cheng Kuan. Is Cheng Kuang just another cosmic obstacle for Si Yi to overcome, or a blessing in disguise?

I was surprised by Megan Lai in this show. My first experience with her was in Bromance, which I didn’t finish watching (but I’m tempted to pick up again just to see what happens). She looked quite androgynous in this show, but she has a rather distinctive mouth that made me go, “where have I seen her before?” It probably sounds weird to say that, ha! She has quite a fluid appearance, and I found her to be very pretty in Miss Rose compared to her character in Bromance. I watched this show for Roy Chiu. He’s an amazing actor and is very handsome. So far this drama has kept me interested, although it’s not as eye-catching as one of Chiu’s latest drama’s, Marry Me or Not.

The Fierce Wife

The Fierce Wife

The Fierce Wife (2010)
Summary: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Things are looking good for the beautiful housewife Xie An Zhen, whose life entails a happy marriage to the dashing Wen Rui Fan, replete with a loving young daughter and a picturesque life. That is, until Xie finds out Wen has been cheating on her—and with her conniving cousin Li Wei En, of all people! Cue a memorable divorce battle of wits and lost love, and ultimately, of new beginnings.

I’m in the mood for something angsty, and nothing does the trick more than a melodrama about a woman and her cheating husband. This drama has a movie, called the final episode. Unfortunately, I’d have to buy the film to see it as it’s not available for streaming. I’ll know by the end of this series if it’s worth getting.

Not many new things on my watch list this month. What’s on yours? Let me know in the comments!

  • I’m currently watching She Was Pretty and Fall in Love with Me (爱上两个我). I have really enjoyed SWP- it’s funny and cute, and has one of my favourite actresses in it, Hwang Jung Eum. FILWM is so-so. The main female lead doesn’t have many expressions, and she’s a bit awkward when acting. I like the male lead though, Aaron Yan, from the band, Fahrenheit (飞轮海).

    • I love it when a Fahrenheit guy appears in a drama ^_^. My first introduction to the group was in …. Romantic Princess I believe. I haven’t finished She Was Pretty, but need to. So many dramas to watch, never enough time LOL.
