What I’m Watching: November/December

So I finished Pink Lipstick, the Korean daily drama. I loved it but was a tad disappointed in the ending — but given the drama in the show I suppose it was necessary to wind it down. The anime I was watching is still going on, so my watch list is getting full. This time around, I’m heavy on the live-action dramas.

Marry Me or Not

Marry Me or Not

Marry Me or Not (Taiwanese drama)
Summary from DramaFever: Onscreen couple Roy Chiu and Alice Ke from Office Girls reunite in this romantic comedy. Burned by Jiang Qian Yao’s (Harry Zhang) playboy antics, Hao Sheng Nan (Joanne Tseng) and Cai Huan Zhen (Alice Ke) have been frenemies since college. But when Qian Yao resurfaces to stir up trouble years later, he ignites a new breed of cutthroat competition between Sheng Nan and Huan Zheng, who are both headstrong women focused on succeeding in work and in love. Meanwhile, after seeing too many failed marriages, divorce lawyer Justin Hao (Roy Chiu) becomes increasingly cynical.

Alice Ke and Roy Chiu are my favorite “couple.” I saw them in the drama, Office Girls, and when I realized they would act together again — I had to watch. Only a few episodes in and I am not disappointed. Cai Huan Zhen is a bit of a mean girl — but she has a reason to be. During a reunion, she meets up with her enemy and ex-best friend, Hao Sheng Nan. I’m not sure if we’re supposed to sympathize with Hao Sheng Nan, but I don’t. I kind of don’t like her. Okay, maybe more than kind of. Cai Huan Zhen and Justin Hao have a series of interactions based on deceit (Cai Huan Zhen thinks Justin Hao is Hao Sheng Nan’s fiance when they are siblings). The drama is so funny and there’s not a scene that leaves me bored. I highly suggest watching this. I’m willing to bet the show’s ending will be brilliant.

Oh My Venus

Oh My Venus

Oh My Venus (Korean drama)
Summary from DramaFever: In an effort to support her family, Kang Joo Eun (Shin Min Ah) has become a workaholic lawyer without any regard for her personal well being. Overweight, unattractive and depressed at the prime of her life, Joo Eun comes across Kim Young Ho (So Ji Sub), a renowned personal trainer who considers health a deeply personal calling. Can Young Ho and his stubborn perfectionism whip Joo Eun’s body—and heart—back into shape?

Okay, so in another instance of watching something because an actor’s in it — I love Shin Min Ah. I’ll watch whatever this great actress is in. It so happens that Shin Min Ah is starring in another excellent drama. It also has So Ji Hub, with his shirt off — so soon in the drama. That’s another good reason to to watch this drama.

Love & Secret

Love & Secret

Love & Secret (Korean drama)
Summary by DramaFever: While studying fashion in the U.S., Han Areum (Shin So Yool) falls for Philip (Yang Jin Woo), a successful financier. But when he knocks her up and abandons her for an advantageous marriage, Areum returns to Korea, determined to raise their child on her own. Braving the stigma of being a single mother, Areum excels at the fashion company Winner, where love blossoms between the young designer and her director Chun Seongun (Kim Heung Soo) — until Philip decides to take responsibility at any cost.

I really hope this show picks up for me as the plot for it got me interested, however, it’s a slow mover.  This is probably because it’s 102 episodes (Pink Lipstick was slow to start as well). I’ll keep at it because I’m sure it’s bound to get better with such a plot at its disposal! I don’t have too much to add but since all episodes are now available, I’ll try to marathon it

  • I’m currently watching Oh My Venus too and it was primarily because of the actors too. Marry Me or Not looks interesting, I’ll guess I’ll check that out after I finish Moon River.

    • Yes! Marry Me or Not is so lovely. Episode 5 comes out tomorrow but this show has me hooked. I recommend it.
