Yay! Ao Haru Ride Anime! – Summer 2014

I’ve been trying to catch up on anime lately. So yesterday when I looked up what was premiering for summer 2014, I did a little happy dance when I saw Ao Haru Ride was made into an anime. I’m super excited!!  (That actually makes for 3 simulcast anime I will be watching this July – a first ever for me.)

If you liked the recent manga series Strobe Edge, then you’ll definitely love Ao Haru Ride also by Io Sakisaka.

Here are some of the PVs and TV ads for the anime.

So what is Ao Haru Ride about?  (from WikipediaFutaba Yoshioka has a few reasons why she wants to “reset” her image and life as a new high school student. She was ostracized by her female friends in junior high because she is cute, and because of a misunderstanding, she could not get her feelings across to the only boy she has ever liked, Kou Tanaka. Now in high school, she is determined to be as unladylike as possible so that her friends will not be jealous of her. While living her life this way contentedly, she meets Kou again, but he now goes under the name of Kou Mabuchi. He tells her that he felt the same way as she did when they were younger, but now that is the thing of the past. Will Futaba and Kou be able to move on, or are they destined to be together?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Viz has some paperwork going for the manga adaptation. They’ve worked with Sakisaka before, so I’ll be watching for that Shojo Beat announcement sometime in the near future. Yay!  \(^o^)/
