Betsufure, short for Bessatsu Friend, is published by Kodansha on a monthly basis. The previous titles in Betsufure that have been licensed here in North America are from the now defunct publishers like TokyoPop and Del Rey, and new titles are now published under Kodansha USA.
Which series that we’ve gotten in North America have been in Betsufure? Mars, Heaven!!, Love Attack, Peach Girl, The Wallflower, My Heavenly Hockey Club, Papillion, and Gakuen Prince. What about now, you say? What can we beg publishers for? Here’s what’s currently running in Betsufure:
Yosh! That’s what currently running in Betsufure. There are always short stories and one shots of course. These are the main series you will see that are ongoing.
So which of these series that’s non-licensed would I like to see? P to JK is a really refreshing series about a 16yr. old falling for a 23 yr. old police officer. Really cute and nice change for a shoujo comic. Kyou no Kira-kun is fantastic as well. That one is about a popular boy who finds out he’s terminal and the girl that supports him. I’m interested in Koori no Joou and Taberarechai no yo! based on the titles. I’ve looked into L❤︎DK, Ao Natsu, and Kurosaki-kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai but there’s nothing really striking about those series that makes them stand out above other shoujo. Also, in case you’re unaware, Watashi ga Motete Dousunda has been licensed by Crunchyroll Manga and is publishing currently on their digital manga service. It’s rather funny, about a fujoshi who suddenly develops a bishie harem when she goes through a physical transformation.
How about you? Anything look interesting? What would you like to read?
“Hana-kun to Koisure Watashi” is a cute story with likable characters.
I really like “Kurosaki kun no iinari ni nante naranai” manga. I’m looking for the newest update but maybe it still haven’t updated 🙁
