Drama First Look: Click Your Heart

Click Your Heart

Click Your Heart

Click Your Heart, a short web drama series, is really cute. In this choose-your-boyfriend style drama, it’s like an otome game. The episodes you choose dictate who the main character ends up dating. Although, unlike normal romance shows, if you decide you like another guy better, you have the option of watching his route. This makes the show unique and I would like to see more dramas with this feature.

Summary from DramaFever: Starring AOA’s Min Ah as an endearing outcast who turns the heads of Da Won, Ro Woon, Cha Ni and Ju Ho, this interactive choose-your-own-adventure series unites AOA and Neoz trainees in a sweet string of high school romances.

Characters: All of the characters (male and female) have adorable looks and personalities, but my favorites are Lee Da Won and Baek Ju Ho. You can pick from charming and playful Ro Woon, serious Ju Ho, friendly and popular Da Won, or upbeat Cha Ni.

Content: The first episode is pretty packed with content. It drops us right in the middle of Min Ah’s problems (is she cursed?) and introduces us to all the boys. It’s a light-hearted romantic comedy that I will describe as “cute” so don’t expect anything deep. Click Your Heart is a stress reducer that doesn’t make you think very hard outside of choosing whose path to follow. Admittedly, that was hard. I watched Lee Da Won and Kim Ro Woon’s paths as they crossed, and I ultimately made a decision of who I wanted her to end up with. In hindsight, had I really thought about it, I could have chose a different path to get to my favorite: tough guy, Baek Ju Ho. But I was still happy with my selection. What I watched was done rather well considering it’s method. It’s very seamless, so when you make a decision, you see the conesequences of your choice. It made me regret for a fleeting moment the final person I chose, but then I reminded myself I could go back and make other decisions.

This was really, really good. I could see a longer, more complex drama happening using this “choose your own adventure” method. In the right hands, it would be a roller coaster of emotions as you choose what happens to the main character. I mean, what if you got the otome game treatment and ended up with a bad ending! I was wrapped up in this webdrama, I bet I’d bawl my eyes out wondering why I made such awful decisions.

There are slighltly confusing moments concerning the individual routes, but I think all will be cleared up once I look at all of the routes and episodes. They seem pretty linear, though.

The actors, from the side characters to the main protagonists, bring us compelling, funny stories. You get just enough detail to understand each character’s personality, which is supplemented by the reactions of other less important characters.  Click Your Heart is well done and I suggest not missing out on it. At only 15 minutes an episode, it doesn’t require a lot of investment.

Audience: Drama fans, and maybe even otome game fans or fans of reverse harem anime, will enjoy this webdrama. I highly recommend it.
