Fruits Basket Sequel Comes to Japan!

Announced on Friday, Lala Online will be publishing a sequel to Natsuki Takaya’s Fruits Basket manga, titled Fruits Basket Another.  Members of  the original cast will not be in the story, but will be mentioned. The story revolves around newcomer, Sawa, and her experiences at the high school that Tohru has just graduated from. Another is planned to be a short series, only two to three volumes long.

The series will be published online every Friday starting September 4, 2015.  It is meant to commemorate the original story and it’s republication, which is also happening concurrently. New editions of the original Fruits Basket will be published with brand new cover art and color inserts, with the first two volumes launching from Hakusensha on September 4.

Fruits Basket was originally serialized in Hana to Yume magazine from 1998-2006. The manga has more than 18.5 million copies in print. The 23-volume series was published in North America by Tokyopop.
