Hana to Yume – Current Serializations

FOR THE MOST UPDATED LIST CLICK HERE.

Just for fun I thought I’d create posts on what’s currently running in Japan. That way I can have pages on each magazine and update them as they change.

I’m starting with one of my favorites – Hana to Yume. Hana to Yume is published by Hakusensha on a monthly basis. The titles in Hana to Yume that have been licensed here in North America are mostly from Viz.

Which popular series have been in Hana to Yume?   Fruits Basket, Hana-Kimi, SA, Skip Beat!, Oresama Teacher and Kamisama Kiss to name a few. That’s a great list of series, so I tend to keep up with what’s running in Hana to Yume regularly. I thought some of my readers might be interested as well. So here’s what’s currently running in Hana to Yume:

Yosh! That’s what currently running in Hana to Yume. There are always short stories and one shots of course. These are the main series you will see that are ongoing. It’s possible I missed one, since Hana to Yume’s site is difficult for an non-japanese reader to navigate. Just comment if I did.

So which of these series that’s non-licensed would I like to see?  So far I think Fukumenkei Noise and Love So Life are my favorite. Soredemo Sekai wa Utsushii just had a spring anime as The World is Still Beautiful. Yami no Matsuei is Descendants of Darkness that we had in North America before it went on hiatus.  Now it’s back this year. Maki Minami has a new series as well as Banri Hidaka and Mizuho Kusanagi. All three mangaka we’ve seen in North America before.

How about you? Anything look interesting? What would you like to read?

  • Akatsuki no Yona is my only interest in Hana to Yume

    • Well this is an old post, so there are many new series. Takane and Hana just got announced this week for licensing.

  • The only manga I mainly interested in is “Yami No Matsuei”. I only got to read up to Chapter 64 so I’m dying waiting to read the next part

  • I kinda can’t believe Skip Beat is STILL running, it needs to end.

I also love Fukumenkei Noise! I was a big fan of Nosatsu Junkie, so crazy over the top.

Komomo Confiserie I’m curious about since it seems to be about pastries/baking. Delicious drawings of food! :3

I have multiple times seen Boukyaku no Shirushi to Hime and keep not picking it up for some reason. But that headless prince is just too intriguing for me to forget lol.

    • I’m predicting Skip Beat! is nearing it’s conclusion. I still LOVE it – Ren is coming around and I think the “reveal” of Kuon will happen not too far off.

I’m a sucker for anything music oriented so that’s why I love Fukumenkei Noise – but the characters are great too! I didn’t realize we actually got her previous work in North America. Too bad it never finished. Wonder if that’s a deterrent for not getting Fukumenkei Noise. (╥_╥)

Anything by Maki Minami is probably pretty good, but Komomo Confiserie just sounds fun – riches to rags, poor to famous and all that.

When I first saw Boukyaku no Shirushi to Hime I didn’t notice that the prince was headless – I thought she was a seamstress making royal clothing. LOL! Then I translated the headless part and did a double take. That one looks incredibly odd – but you’re right, very intriguing.

I also love Love So Life because of the cute twins and the sweet protagonist, but I’m guessing it might be a difficult title to import culturally – young teenage girl and twenty something guy liking each other. It’s just adorable, though.

Good to hear your thoughts, Kate!

      • I think VIZ is finally FINALLY coming around to picking up manga-ka that failed from other, now defunct publishers like CMX (I still miss you!) and TokyoPop. VIZ released Sweet Rein from Sakura Tsukuba whom I love but was worried we’d never get because her other titles were from CMX. VIZ also picked up D.N.Angel for a digital release and some other things. So I’m hoping that just because TokyoPop never finished Nosatsu Junkie, that doesn’t mean Fukumenkei Noise is off the table.

Also, Kuro Hakushaku wa Hoshi o Mederu looks a lot like Earl and Fairy, not sure if it is related at all.

Thanks for making this list by the way! I love these and it helps me a lot when making my year end shojo lists :3
