Laura: Hello to all our readers out there! I’ve got a new face at Heart of Manga I’d like to introduce to you. I requested some help and I had an amazing writer offer to become the Current News and Trends author – Adrienne! Everyone give Adrienne a warm welcome to the manga blogosphere. She’s got plenty of articles under her belt on more serious topics, so she’s looking forward to getting to write more about things she loves.

Along with keeping us up to date on what’s happening with manga news-wise, Adrienne is into otome gaming and enjoys watching shoujo anime and dramas as well. So all my peeps out there who share that passion, you’ll be getting more news and features on those topics now. Hurray!

So Adrienne, is there anything you’d like to tell the readers about yourself? Like what your favorite fandom is, or what you look forward to doing while writing for Heart of Manga?

Adrienne: Thanks for having me! I’ve been into Japanese pop culture since Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z first appeared on Toonami in the 1990s. Eventually, my interests diversified, and I got into Asian dramas and otome games thanks to the Internet.

I’m a sucker for a good romance and good art and often use anime, manga, and dramas as a source of inspiration in my fiction writing. Some of my favorite things include Itazura na Kiss, the 1996 live-action Japanese drama adaption of the manga; Akazukin to Mayoi no Mori (PC otome game); Devils and Realist (anime/manga); the canon couple SasuSaku (Naruto); Gakuen Heaven (game/anime/manga); and Enjouji Maki’s Happy Marriage (manga).

I look forward to being an active part of the community and interacting with others who share my interests. It’s great to be able to combine all of my passions, and I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.

Laura: Well, we look forward to seeing all that you have up your sleeve for us as well! Adrienne has already contributed by writing the last news post, and we will be getting more from her on her favorite passions soon. I hope everyone treats her as graciously as I have been treated, and that you enjoy her contributions to Heart of Manga now and in the months to come.

Nice to meet you, Adrienne! 😀 We both like otome games! Recently I have been purchasing them on CDJapan and Ebay since there’s no English ones for the vita. Have you heard that we are getting Norn9, Amnesia Memories and Code Realize for the Vita in English this year?

What other shoujo manga do you like?

- Thanks for the welcome, Mary :). Some shoujo (and josei) manga I like are Inu x Boku SS, Spell of Desire, 07-Ghost and I’m looking forward to reading The Demon Prince of Momochi House. Most of my favorite manga come from Petit Comic and Comic Zero Sum, both magazines feature artists who have great art (which is important to me).
  
  I buy majority of my otome games from Amazon Japan as I prefer PC otome games, but I bought a Vita specifically for any English-translated otome games. I plan on buying every otome game Idea Factory releases ;).

  - Looks like I’m going to have to check out those manga you mentioned haha thank you! And wow! Do you understand most of what you’re playing, or do you use a translator? And you are awesome! I’m so glad we aren’t getting another Hakuoki game lol and I hope this means that Aksys and IF are going to be bringing over more otome games.
    
    Do you have any otome recommendations? I only have the vita and 3ds for now.

    - I’ve been studying Japanese for a few years but I’m nowhere close to fluent, so I use dictionaries and a translator for PC games (which is my preferred mode) through Parallels on my iMac. Although recently, I’ve been playing games on iOS and would recommend D3Publisher’s Forbidden Romance games. They release Japanese games on consoles, too, but have a few games translated for an English audience on mobile.       - Wow, great! Thanks so much Adrienne! And thanks for joining Heart of Manga. I love this blog and the friendly people here. I hope more people discover this gem. And yep, Japanese is sure difficult! If I had a translator, I’d use it. So I’m stuck learning the language. It’s not too bad though since I really like the language and there are so many things I can do with it lol.
