Memorable Manga Moments: Fruits Basket Vol. 1

With the recent Moveable Manga Feast on Fruits Basket, I came up with several ideas for articles. One was to post the most memorable moments from the series. As it turns out, I had one from almost every volume! That was way too many for one post. So I thought I would gradually share them over the long haul, and not bombard you with them all at one time. 🙂

This first one is from volume one. Tohru is back living with her relatives after staying with the Sohmas. She is being treated poorly, and admits to herself that she misses Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure. At that time, the Sohma’s show up and take Tohru back to their house.

I love how Yuki and Kyo just waltz in and take Tohru by the head and leave with her. They put her family in their place by calling them lowlifes. Then they walk her back to Shigure’s place. Shigure accuses them of kidnapping the princess, while the boys protest that they were rescuing her. It’s such a cute expression from Kyo and Yuki, who almost never unite on anything at this point. It makes Tohru so happy as well. A great ending to the first volume.
