Memorable Manhwa Moments: Pig Bride vol 3

While there were a lot of silly gags in the Pig Bride series, this particular scene was very memorable because I don’t think I’d laughed quite so hard at a manga/manhwa before.

Si Joon has been alone in the mansion without electricity, when he sees what he thinks is a monster. Mu-Yeon shows up to rescue him from the monster – a scavenging raccoon. With the electricity out the two eat some canned food and decide to go to bed. Si Joon creates a barrier of kitchen tools down the center of the bed and tells Mu Yeon to stay on her side.

Mu Yeon asks if Si Joon has had any feelings for her, since he evidently saw her nude earlier. He denies any feeling or reactions. But he can’t get her image out of his head. When he feels her grab him in the night, he gets embarrassed and reminds her to keep her hands off. Funny thing is, it’s not Mu Yeon grabbing him, it’s the raccoon from earlier. 🙂

When I first read this scene I couldn’t help but laugh. Si Joon is trying so hard to suppress teenage hormonal reactions, and Mu Yeon is a pretty girl, although he can’t see her face. I really thought Mu Yeon could be seducing him since she suggests trying to consummate their marriage repeatedly. When that last panel reveals it’s the raccoon – I succumbed to a fit of giggles. The raccoon ends up being a great source of gags in this volume.
