Honest, intelligent news and reviews for manga romantics
On April 30, Seven Seas announced their acquisition of Ichigo Takano’s Orange manga from Futabasha publishing. The series is currently at 4 volumes in Japan and has sold over 1,250,000 copies. It is also being adapted into a live-action film. So what makes this series so compelling? Elements of friendship and romance mixed with time travel attract readers of all ages and gender.
Synopsis from publisher: Everyone has regrets in life. So who wouldn’t take the chance to change the past if given the opportunity? When sixteen-year-old Takamiya Naho receives a mysterious letter, claiming to be from her twenty-seven-year-old self, her life is suddenly thrown into flux. The letter tells her that a new transfer student by the name of Naruse Kakeru will be joining her class, and to keep her eye on him. But why? Naho must decide what to make of the letter and its cryptic warning, and what it means not only for her future, but for Kakeru’s as well.
We have been getting the simulpub of Orange thanks to Crunchyroll manga. If you have a membership you can preview the series there. Now we will be able to hold this story physically thanks to Seven Seas. I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely thrilled we are getting these volumes!
The series will be published in 2 hardcover omnibuses. Volume 1 & 2 omnibus will be printed in January 2016, with Volume 3 & 4 expected to follow in May.
If interested, I have done a review of Orange from Crunchyroll.
I’m reading this series and ReCollection by the same author on CrunchyRoll and very excited that it will get book form. This is a must-buy for me. According to a Seven Seas’ tumbler post (http://sevenseasentertainment.tumblr.com/post/117793207205/hello-i-was-very-excited-to-see-that-you-have) the series will be 5 volumes in total, so each volume is 2.5 books 🙂
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I flipped tables when I saw this. My friend who reads scanlations proclaims this to be a VERY good shoujo with a great cast. And I trust her opinions on manga 😀 Also, I finally checked out Skip Beat! I had to get the omnibus but it still was great. Looking forward to reading volume 4!
