Announced this weekend on Anime News Network – there’s some fun goodies coming out for fangirls later this year.

Occurring this summer is the anime for Akagame no Shirayukihime. The first PV was streamed on Youtube. We finally get a look at our favorite characters in motion. You’ll see Shirayuki, Zen, Mitsuhide and Kiki, Obi, and Ryuu.

The video announces the voice casting of the supporting cast members. So far the cast includes:

  • Saori Hayami – Shirayuki
  • Ryota Ohsaka – Zen
  • Yuichiro Umehara – Mitsuhide
  • Kaori Nazuka – Kiki
  • Nobuhiko Okamoto – Obi
  • Yuko Sanpei – Ryuu

Then at the end of this year we’ll be getting some more swimming action from the boys who brought us Free! The water-obsessed hunks will be starring in a prequel movie titled High Speed! ~Free! Starting Days~ and it will premier in Japan on December 5, 2015.

The movie covers the middle school years of the Iwatobi swimming stars, and will introduce some new characters as well. It was also confirmed that the Nobunaga Shimazaki, who voices Haruka, will be returning for the movie as well.

Also announced was that the High Speed! light novel by Kōji Ōji and Futoshi Nishiya will get a manga adaptation. The drawing will be done by Shiori Teshirogi.

I think it will be interesting to see the prequel for this series, but I definitely won’t be fangirling at this one. I’m not into shotacon – looking at young boy bodies – but it seems to be a thing for female audiences in Japan right now, so it will probably do really well.

For more information it would be good to watch the official site as more news will be forthcoming.

  • So excited for Akagami!!!! XD I never got into Free! but I am glad that the female audience has something to gush over.

    • Highly recommend Free! I was very skeptical from the beginning. I’m not into boy on boy relationships, but this series was just —– ! Too sexy/cute for words. You can watch it on Cunchyroll for free.

      • Well, you always have the best recommendations, Laura! So I will! 😀 I also don’t like yaoi, which was one of the many reasons I didn’t want to watch it-along with the femalexmale pairing hate that yaoi fangirls have.

        • The show is about the guys relationships, but you can take it as far as you want. I really dig the deep friendship and caring personalities that come out.

It doesn’t have to go any farther than that, but of course the yaoi fangirls want it to. Thus there have been numerous fan comics written even by famous mangaka that pair the boys together.

I rather like the idea of a bunch of boys that care deeply about each other in a friendly way. Doesn’t have to be any more than that. And that’s what I like about the anime. It can be interpreted the way you want. Well, that, and all those awesome looking muscles – like Gou, their female manager, says. 😉

          • 😀 Same here! But to each their own, I guess 🙂
