Honest, intelligent news and reviews for manga romantics
Okay, I hope you saw this already, but just for posterity’s sake I’m going to post it.
On Friday at NYCC Viz announced the license for YONA OF THE DAWN!!! (Akatsuki no Yona)
We will also be getting a new josei series from Izumi Miyazono called Everyone’s Getting Married (Totsuzen Desu ga, Ashita Kekkon Shimasu)
There were also the shonen sports manga announcements of Kuroko’s Basketball and Haikyu!! – both of which have a nice size female fan base here in North America.
Seriously, I think Viz made so many people happy at once that I’m surprised there wasn’t some kind of explosion. I know I was doing my own little happy dance and others were squeeing everywhere online.
Most of you are familiar with Yona of the Dawn, but I will post some things anyway. Especially for the new josei which you may have never heard of until now. As for the sports manga, those are not our forte here, but I know that there are tons of female fans.
Kuroko Tetsuya doesn’t stand out much. In fact, he’s so plain that people hardly ever notice when he’s around. Though he’s just as unremarkable on the basketball court, that’s where his plainness gives him an unexpected edge – one that lets him execute awesome moves without others noticing! And now that he’s a high school student, he’s on a mission to defeat each member of his legendary middle school team, known as the Miracle Generation.
This series will debut in 2 in 1 editions in summer 2016.
Ever since he saw the legendary player known as the “Little Giant” compete at the national volleyball finals, Shoyo Hinata has aimed to be the best volleyball player ever! He decides to join the team at the high school the Little Giant went to – and then surpass him. Who says you need to be tall to play volleyball when you can jump higher than anyone else?
This series will debut in summer 2016.
