Black Bird volume 13 came out last month in North America. I haven't reported on this series in almost a year, so I thought it was time for an update.

Most manga readers have a love or hate relationship with Black Bird. Shojo smut has a definite fan base, but is not for everyone.

Synopsis: In this third installment of the series, Misao Harada discovers that there will be consequences for becoming the bride of Kyo, head of the tengu clan. As a gift, Kyo gives Misao one of his primary feathers. This allows her freedom from the minor demons that usually plague her. However, it does not keep the other clan heads...

Although the characters in Black Bird 2 continue to push the envelope with sexual innuendos aplenty that make me cringe, I just can't help but be drawn in by the fantasy story elements. I'm declaring this title only for hard core romance fans.

If you are a part of the crowd that doesn't like romance novels and finds them sub-par literature, then you probably won't like Black Bird. However, if you're a fan of the genre and enjoy those steamy moments thrown in with an intriguing plot line, then you'll most likely be pining for the next volume as soon as it's...
