Viz’s ShojoBeat Announces New Titles for 2013

This may be a little delayed, as word travels fast. However on twitter last Thursday the new titles from ShojoBeat for 2013 were hinted and then confirmed. There’s four new titles coming up this year, and two of them are josei! Fans were ecstatic as some of the titles were revealed.

Up first on August 6, 2013, will be Hapi Mari?! translated to Happy Marriage?! by Maki Enjoji

Synopsis from Aerandria Scans: Men – they’re the root of Takanashi Chiwa’s problems, which is why she never had the time nor the opportunity to have a boyfriend in her entire life. A full-time office lady and a part-time hostess, she works night and day to pay off her dad’s debt from his failed business. One night at her part-time job, a high-class customer has her fired. Then the next day, she’s called in to see the president – whom she had never even seen before in the office – only to find out she’s to marry him! But what kind of guy is Mamiya Hokuto anyway? Will he become one of Chiwa’s problems, or will he save her from them? And will this marriage even last?!

\(^o^)/  I personally have been begging for this title for several years now. I’m so thrilled we are getting more josei! Originally published in Petit Comic magazine, the series will be printed in North America in ten volumes.

Next on September 3, 2013, will come the first volume of Midnight Secretary by Tomu Ohmi

Synopsis from Aerandria Scans: Kaya thought she had found the perfect job when she became the private secretary of Kyouhei Touma–the director of a tableware company of the same name. Kyouhei is a capable director, but his arrogance and sluttish behavior are almost legendary. Kaya is doing her best to prove that she is capable in her work, but one night, by accident, she discovers his secret… He is a vampire!

Yay! More josei! This series was originally run in Petit Comic and will be published in North America in seven volumes.

Then on October 1, 2013, we’ll get the first volume of Seiyuu-ka!, translated as Voice Over: Seiyuu Academy! by Maki Minami

Synopsis from Baka-Updates: Manga: Kino Hime is a 15 year-old girl who just started her first year in a high school for voice actors (Seiyuu) called Hiiragi Academy. She dreams of becoming the voice of the main character in one of the most popular series in Japan, “Magic Fighter Lovely Blazers”. The academy is the number one school which allows students to make their voice acting debuts and also includes other departments such as general education, sports, music, acting, and art. Of course this Academy is full of celebrities, too. Two of Hime’s upperclassmen are none other than the two rising idols of the group “Idol Unit AQUA”. But Hime’s dream is hard to fulfill. Her voice is not really suitable for a voice actress and her new classmate Kudou Senri doesn’t waste time in pointing that out. Will Hime prove everybody, especially Senri, what she is capable of despite the first appearance?

Another shoujo series from Maki Minami, whose series Special A was previously published by ShojoBeat. This series is ongoing in Hana to Yume magazine, and currently has ten volumes published in Japan.

Finally on November 5, 2013, we’ll get Yoroshiku Master, translated as Sweet Rein, by Sakura Tsukuba

Synopsis from Dragon Voice Project: One day when 17-year-old Sagara Kurumi accidently bumps into a guy on the streets, reins suddenly appear and binds them both! What is this?! Things get even more confusing when the boy, Kaito, clasps her hands and calls her his master! When Kaito transforms into a reindeer it just becomes too much for poor Kurumi who’s out as a light. But it does indeed seem like Kurumi’s a santa and Kaito’s her reindeer and that they’ve got an important job to do on Christmas Eve~ ^^

A short three volume series from mangaka Sakura Tsukuba of Land of the Blindfolded and Penguin Revolution, just in time for Christmas. The series originally ran in LaLaDX in 2005.
