What I’m Watching: April 2016

There’s a lot of good stuff available to watch. If I had more free time I’d probably try to fit in everything. Alas, work takes precedent but there’s nothing like coming home to catch up on a drama or anime!

Marriage Contract

Marriage Contract

Marriage Contract
Summary from DramaFever: When Kang Hye Soo (UEE) is suddenly widowed, she is left to raise her daughter alone. However, tragedy strikes again when Hye Soo develops an aggressive brain tumor, prompting her to choose an unconventional method for guardianship: entering a short-term marriage contract with Han Ji Hoon (Lee Seo Jin), a rich man with a plan.

The first episode sucks you in. I’m so glad I decided to start watching this. The acting, down to Kang Hye Soo’s daughter, is superb, and I am pleased with UEE’s performance (she’s from the Kpop group After School). This show makes you feel all sorts of things.

Norn9

Norn9

Norn9
Summary from Anime News Network: The era where great powers of the world have all ventured overseas. Revolution and liberalism spread all over the world. Right when souls and earth are ill, a glowing sphere appeared in the sky and removed the borders of the world. Three girls and nine young men depart together with a flying ship.

I wasn’t happy that Norn9 was exclusive to Hulu, but I recently decided to subscribe to Hulu to watch a few other shows. Norn9 finished and so I’m late on watching this, but I don’t regret it. Norn9 is based off an otome game. It’s got bishounen in it. I’m always a sucker for anime based on otome games or reverse harem anime, although most are usually disappointing. The artwork isn’t my favorite, and the heroine’s personality is annoying, but I like the story so far. Hopefully, it doesn’t fall flat.

Vampire Detective

Vampire Detective

Vampire Detective
Summary from DramaFever: During a routine private investigation, Yoon San (Lee Joon) is attacked and turned into a vampire. While adjusting to his supernatural life, Yoon San continues to take on new clients, discovering his powers heighten his investigatory skills along the way. But is it enough to crack the mysteries of his own case?

Here’s to hoping this starts, continues, and ends a lot better than Blood did. I was disappointed in the direction of that particular show enough to not finish the end. I have higher hopes as the first two episodes (that’s how many are currently out) are really action packed. There’s some violence, lots of needles, and parts that make you cringe. But there’s also the right amount of comedy and some romantic undertones (although it’s angsty). The production value is great, and the acting is excellent. I expect it to do well.

That’s all for April. What shows are you guys watching right now?
