My Favorite Asian Culture Youtube Channels

I love Youtube. It’s a great way to find new content and fill in time between dramas or anime. I wanted to share some of my favorite Youtube channels. These focus on either Korean or Japanese popular culture in some form. I have way more than this, but this is a good starting point if you were looking for new content. Please let us know what Youtube channels you love. I’m always looking for more people to subscribe to!

Hallyu back

Hallyu back

Hallyuback: Stay on top of Korean news and entertainment with this funny Youtube channel. The host’s voice can be a bit grating at times, but once you get used to it it’s a really enjoyable channel. Her latest youtube video talks about Park Hae Jin’s newest drama. Other video topics have included: top teen korean dramas, top 10 best Korean drama kisses, living in Korea, tallest Kpop idols, scandals and dramas from Japan, Taiwan, and more.

nigiricco

nigiricco

nigiricco. The videos on this channel are absolutely delicious (looking — man, I would love to eat this host’s cooking)! Learn what it takes to make very fancy bento lunches. Maybe it will inspire you to make your own. The videos are mostly in Japanese text (the host doesn’t speak), but if you don’t know Japanese don’t worry. The ingredients are listed in both English and Japanese.

K-Ville Entertainment

K-Ville Entertainment

K-Ville Entertainment: Can’t keep up with all of the latest songs? There is always something new being released and K-Ville does a great job of aggregating Korea’s best music in a digestible format. With videos such as top 50 K-Pop Songs Chart (each week of every month), see where your favorite groups and idols land, or pick up a new song to love. There are also videos on K-Pop facts and quizzes.

Mnet K-Pop

Mnet K-Pop

Mnet K-Pop: This is an official channel for Mnet, featuring many live performances. This is another convenient way to watch all of your favorite groups and idols perform.

Kimdao

Kimdao

Kimdao: Kimdao’s channel is really fun. It’s primarily a makeup and beauty channel, but she visits Japan and has a very cute and stylish Japanese wardrobe. According to her blog, she’s an Australian-born Vietnamese person. You can live vicariously through her as she takes trips to Japanese stores or festivals. This is an English channel.

ochikeron

ochikeron

ochikeron. Ochikeron delights viewers with very cute food you can make at home such as a Rilakkuma Omurice. Ochikeron speaks in English but there is some Japanese text as well. She has a Japanese-English book out (search by her Youtube channel name: “ochikeron”), which you can find on the Japanese Bookwalker or Amazon Japan.

Sharmander

Sharmander

Sharmander: Sharmander chronicles her life as a person living in Japan. She often does outings (such as visiting stores and other prefectures), as well as haul videos and practical videos such. She also has another channel called Sharla in Japan. There are a few channels of foreigners living in Japan, and I like her videos the most.

That Japanese Man Yuta

That Japanese Man Yuta

That Japanese Man Yuta. Learn about Japanese culture and what everyday Japanese people think. His videos are often enlightening and well done. He’s not afraid to ask controversial questions such as the whitewashing of Japanese characters in Hollwyood and what Japanese people think of non-Japanese people.

Kumimika

Kumamika

Kumamiki: A mid-twenties Japanese woman showcasing Japanese fashion, food, cooking, DIY, and a whole lot of other topics. This is a great channel to test out your Japanese skills and learn a thing or two about Japan. This is a channel dedicated to Japan’s cuter side.

Yuka Kinoshita

Yuka Kinoshita

Yuka Kinoshita: Don’t watch her when you’re hungry. This slender woman, who is a very popular Youtuber, eats more than your average person — enough for a couple of people, in fact. She’s called an oogui eater and, no, she doesn’t have an eating disorder. Her impressive appetite and charismatic personality make watching someone else eat seem a lot less weird (okay, maybe just a little). Everything she eats looks delicious. She speaks in Japanese, but there are usually English subs on her videos done by fans.

Well, hopefully you’ve found something new and interesting to watch with all that spare time you have. Let us know if there’s something you really like!
